ALIM Web Help

ProjectWise Level 1 Connector

Note: This section assumes that the administrator has already selected the ProjectWise projects and folders to monitor from within the community. This is accomplished in AssetWise System Management Console. For more information, see the AssetWise Implementation Guide.

In ALIM Web, you can synchronize ProjectWise folders that are currently being monitored in your community, for the purpose of keeping up-to-date copies of documents that reside in ProjectWise.

Synchronization informs the community about which documents exist in the monitored folder, and keeps track of any changes that have occurred in the folder, such as documents which have been added or deleted, or document attributes or files which have changed.

Note: Projects and folders are similar objects in ProjectWise. In fact, a ProjectWise project is simply a special type of folder (they can both contain projects, folders, and documents). For the purpose of synchronization, there is no notable difference between the two, except for the icon that is used to differentiate a project from a regular folder. For the rest of this section, wherever the phrase "folder" is used, it implies project or folder.
Note: Only documents that match the following criteria can be registered into ALIM Web using ProjectWise Level 1 synchronization:
  • Only native and rendition files registered into native and rendition copies. For more information, see "Configuring ProjectWise Native and Rendition Files and Copies", in the ALIM Web Implementation Guide
  • The document revision should not exist in ALIM Web.
There are two methods for synchronizing documents from ProjectWise into AssetWise, using ProjectWise Level 1 synchronization:
